Harena is a top down arcade where the player can teleport to 3 different levels to battle the enemies which increase in difficulty. Can you defeat the final boss and unlock every weapon? This game was built over a 1- month time period.


Project Scope and Team Dynamics

I worked on the player, player animations, weapons, level designs, loading screens, the logic for weapon unlocks, NPC interaction, and the teleporters. I also assisted with UI and enemy logic. The project concluded at the end of the month.


My Contributions

Design and Systems

  • Designed and balanced all core gameplay mechanics and narrative integration
  • Developed the weapon system
  • Created the NPC interaction with weapon unlocking

Gameplay and Programming

  • Programmed all weapons, projectiles, shooting, and reloading logic
  • Developed the NPC and incorporated a counter to verify that the player met minimum requirements before giving them the next weapon
  • Programmed the teleporters ensuring that the player may only exit the arena if they have beaten all enemies
  • Designed all of the player logic including the camera
  • Created the progression saving logic to ensure returning players can continue where they left off

Level and Environment Design

  • Designed, built and optimized the full game levels with exploration paths into the arenas

VFX and Visual Feedback

  • Designed and implemented the portal visual effects to give immediate player feedback for progression to another area

Art and Animation

  • Designed the logo and the developer splash in Gimp
  • Animated all player actions including movement and weapon use
  • Designed and implemented the user interface for NPC interaction
  • Created both the static loading screen and the animated loading screen

Audio

  • Created the voice over for the NPC using Voice Mod
